Training Info
Seishinkan offers a unique opportunity to train in many different Martial Arts under one roof!
Below are details of the training we can offer!
Kempō (拳法) is the name of several martial arts. The word kenpō is a Japanese translation of the Chinese word "quánfa"(meaning Law of the Fist) In Japanese martial arts, kempō is used to designate Chinese martial arts, (much as the term kung fu is used in English-speaking countries)
Zen Shin Kempo is a hybrid Martial Arts Style that uses a combination of Wing Chun, Lau Gar, San Shou and Feng Shou Wu Shu for its system and is complimented at higher Grades with Arnis(single stick) training.
Sanshou (散手;literally meaning"free hand") or Sanda ( 散打;meaning "free fighting") is a Chinese hand to hand combat, self-defense system, and combat sport.
As an unarmed self-defense, close combat system, Sanshou includes da (punches), ti (kicks), shuai (grappling), and na (throws, locks, chokes). Sanda as a sport has a very great emphasis on throws. One of its most distinguished techniques is the "kick catch". This is when one person kicks and the person performing the throw catches the kick and then trips the person kicking when he's on one leg. While kickboxing styles, such as Muay Thai also allow this, the kick catch is emphasized in San Shou because of the importance it is given by the judges.
Chin Na or Qinna (擒拿) is a Chinese term describing techniques used in the Chinese martial arts that control or lock an opponent's joints or muscles/tendons so he cannot move, thus neutralizing the opponent's fighting ability. The Chin Na Combat curriculum borrows many of its core techniques from traditional Hapkido & Kung Fu, while discarding other traditional techniques they believe to be ineffective for their goals. These core techniques are additionally used as a platform to build upon other techniques from styles like Jeet Kune Do, Jujutsu and Western Boxing. Chin Na Combat attempts to provide a clear core platform on which the material of other Martial Art Systems can be added or removed while still maintaining the core of Chin Na Combat principals for providing a self-defense system.
KENJUTSU (剣術) is the Japanese martial art specializing in the use of the Japanese sword (katana). Generally, kenjutsu takes the form of partnered and solo practice exercised through kata.

Kenjutsu is the core means by which koryū train their students to employ the Japanese swords against a variety of classical weapons, while indoctrinating the student in the combative mindset of the school. Therefore, kenjutsu can be seen as an integral aspect of all classical Japanese sword school curricula. Single and two men bokken(wooden sword) training is first taught before live katana practice to allow the student to train in a safe atmosphere. Tamishigiri (mat cutting practice) is also trained.

Our Kenjutsu was developed by Shihan Jon Alexander 9th Dan who has developed the system over the past 40 years!

The Seishinkan branch of Kombat Kenjutsu concentrates on "safe" sparring training both with and without Armour!
KOBUDO (古武道; also known as Ryūkyū Kobujutsu, Koryū, or just as Kobudō) is a Japanese term that can be translated as "old martial way of Okinawa". It generally refers to the classical weapon traditions of Okinawan martial arts, most notably the rokushakubo (six foot staff, known as the "bō"), Yo (4ft staff), Hanbo (half bo or 3ft staff) sai (short unsharpened dagger), tonfa (handled club), kama (sickle), and nunchaku (nunchucks).
Less common weapons include the tambo (short staff) the Yari (spear)and the Naginata (bladed staff), we also include rattan stick fighting.
Private lessons are also available in Wing Chun, Kombat Kali, Jujutsu as well as the above Arts!
